The first tennis academy of Chhattisgarh, established in Raipur

  • Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel will inaugurate the Tennis Academy on September 27

Raipur, 26 September. In consonance with the Chief Minister’s vision, the Chhattisgarh Government is making consistent efforts to promote sports and provide world-class sports facilities to the youth in the state. The state government has added a new Tennis Academy to provide world-class infrastructure to the youth of the state, in a row with the International Cricket Stadium and the International Hockey Stadium in Chhattisgarh.

The Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel will inaugurate the Tennis Sports Academy (Hostel and Administrative Building), located in Raipur’s Labhandi area, on September 27. Built at a cost of Rs 17.15 crore, it will be Chhattisgarh’s first and largest academy. Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Mr. Umesh Patel and PWD Minister Mr. Tamradhwaj Sahu will also attend the inauguration.

The Tennis Sports Academy, spread across a 4-acre area, is subdivided into three sections. The first section consists of an administrative building, three-story accommodation rooms, a hall, a gym, a VIP lounge, and a media centre. It also boasts a spectator capacity of 500. The second section consists of the hostel building, another three-story building that will accommodate offices, director’s rooms, parking facilities, a kitchen, and a dining area. The third and last section consists of the Main Stadium, with a seating capacity of 2500 spectators. This facility is poised to provide top-notch amenities to nurture and foster tennis talent in the region.

Special features of the tennis academy

  • The academy comprises one main tennis court (synthetic) and five practice tennis courts (synthetic).
  • The academy is constructed over a total area of 4 acres.
  • Ultra Cushion, a 9-layer synthetic surface, is used for the tennis courts.
  • The main tennis court has a seating capacity of 2000 spectators, and the main building includes a VIP lounge with a seating capacity of 500.
  • The stadium chairs are provided for spectator seating arrangements.
  • The stadium has a total parking capacity of 150 vehicles. The main tennis court has 40,000-watt capacity lights with a lux level of 1500, while each practice court has 4900-watt capacity lights with a lux level of 500, meeting international standards.
  • The academy is equipped with a 315 KV substation for regular power supply and a 165 KV DG set for emergency power supply.
  • The hostel and main building are air-conditioned as per the requirements.
  • The hostel building provides accommodation with a total of 46 rooms, accommodating up to 92 players. There is also a dining hall for the players’ meals.
